Job Posting:  Head of Lighting Main Season

Join our Team of talented and dedicated artists and help bring our stories to life on the stages of Lighthouse Festival!!

As our Head of Lighting you will primarily be responsible to work closely with the Lighting Designer and Director for each production and be in charge of all lighting related tasks including: preparation, hanging, focusing, gel inventory and board programming.  You will report to the Technical Director for all day to day technical matters, and to the Production Manager for administrative matters (eg. Hours and scheduling).

You possess the required technical skills, are an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, have demonstrated problem solving and time management skills and are able to perform all physical duties of the job.  You must also have a strong commitment to Health and Safety.

This Temporary Full Time Contract position is expected to run from April 22, 2024 to August 23, 2024 at Lighthouse Theatre in Port Dover.

Salary range:  $825-$900 per week based on qualifications and experience

 

Major Responsibilities

·       Prepare, hang, focus, gel inventory and board programming. 

·       Handle the transfer of any LX needs for each show during load out to our sister theatre in Port Colborne. Communicate with the house tech there to ensure a smooth transfer. 

·       Maintain all lighting equipment as needed and inform the Technical Director of any equipment in need of repair or replacement. 

·       Show operator for one or more productions. 

·       Responsible for preshow checks when required. 

·       Responsible for closing the theatre building down when required. 

·       Keep an up to date inventory of equipment and submit equipment requests/orders in a timely manner to the Technical Director and/or Production Manager. 

·       Work alongside the director of our Young Company production as a Lighting Designer. 

·       Assist the transfer team load in, set up and tear down all summer production sets for Lighthouse. 

·       Help maintain the Theatre space, backstage, booth and dressing room areas in a clean state and free of any safety concerns. 

·       Attend all meetings, production and crew meeting as scheduled by the Technical Director/Production Manager.  

 

Skills and Experience

·       Post Secondary education in a Technical Theatre program preferred

·       Effective technical skills

·       Knowledgeable on the ETC Ion lighting board  

·       Able to work safely from ladders and scaffolding.  

·       Working at heights & first aid (training can be provided by the theatre).  

·       Able to lift and transfer equipment safely.

·       Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations

·       Work cooperatively with other members of your team and be able to work independently.

Working Conditions:

·        40 hour work week, with hours averaging agreement.  Hours may be varied dependent on operational needs and include evening and weekend expectations.
