Social Media Policy
PACT strives to maintain a positive image on our social media platforms. We are committed to preventing / reducing harm to the organizations, its employees, members or other involved parties that can arise if social media channels are misused, misrepresented, or abused in a way.
PACT uses its social media channels to:
- Increase brand awareness
- Create opportunities for storytelling
- Reach new audiences
- Connect and engage with the community
PACT recognizes that social media platforms can be the place for the healthy exchange of different opinions. It can also quickly become a place for toxic and unhealthy communication that does not foster understanding or dialogue. PACT will monitor its social media platforms in accordance with the platform's community standards / guidelines. This includes reporting and removing content / comments posted on our channels which:
- Violates PACT's commitment to the Ontario Human Rights code, including hate speech or discriminatory language.
- Could contribute to a risk of physical security of persons, including sharing personal information.
- Targets private individuals with the potential to intimidate, shame, exclude, or silence.
- Misleading information.
- Disrespects the dignity of others through harassment, bullying, or degrading language.
This policy is subject to change at anytime.
Organizational Statements
PACT is a registered charity and does not have the mandate to be a political organization; is limited in its scope, capacity, and depth of understanding pertaining to global issues; seeks to support the diversity of opinions and viewpoints of its membership; understands and supports theatre making/participation being a political act; envisions a healthy ecology to include constructive debate and exploration.
PACT maintains its long-standing practice of not issuing organizational public comment on political, domestic, or international events, except in regards to events that directly impact our mission and work as an association. Where appropriate and welcomed, PACT is best positioned to support progressive political activism by creating space for constructive discussion, and amplifying member-led initiatives.

Certain words, phrases, names, designs or logos used on the website may constitute trademarks, service marks or trade names of PACT or other entities. The display of any such marks or names on the website does not imply that PACT or other entities have granted a licence or authorization of any kind.

PACT collects, maintains and disseminates information about our Member Theatres for the general public. PACT may also include links to websites of organizations that support or relate to the professional theatre community.
