Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world’s foremost repertory theatre companies. Job Description

This unionized position reports to the Costume Director while being directly supervised by the Buyers and is part of the Production Wardrobe Department.
Responsibilities:
• Sourcing – researching where to purchase costume pieces with an emphasis on quality, location, availability and shipping options
• Wardrobe Supplies – purchase all notion type items for wardrobe staff
• Local Shopping – purchasing costume related items from shops in the Stratford, Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge and London, Ontario regions. Shopping in Toronto, ON as required
• Accurate receiving, unpacking and labelling of all orders
• Distribution of purchased items to relevant wardrobe department areas
• Returns – calculating the return dates for each purchase and completing timely returns
• Process customs paperwork for all US based orders
• Filing – requisition forms for all items purchased
• Accounting Paperwork – complete credit card reports, petty cash reports and mileage forms
Qualifications:
• Experience as a professional buyer is an asset
• An understanding of costume construction, textiles, notions and costume history is an asset
• Experience with online research and online shopping in a professional work environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel, Word and Outlook
• Ability to work long hours when required
• Ability to work in a busy department with multiple interruptions
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
• Ability to execute tasks in an efficient manner
• Excellent team player
Preference will be given to candidates with experience buying in theatre or film.
This full time contract position is located in Stratford, Ontario and will begin February, 2025.
