Job Description

Term: July 2 to August 30, 2024
Salary: $17.55 / hour for 25 hours per week
Location: Remote and on-site in Waterloo, ON

The Marketing Assistant will work directly with the Marketing Outreach Manager to assist in developing, producing, distributing and archiving marketing and promotional materials. The Marketing Assistant will also help to implement public relations strategies using e-newsletters and other forms of public engagement.

Responsibilities will include:

• Working with the Marketing Outreach Manager to assist in creating and implementing a marketing and public relations plan and editorial calendar for the 2024-2025 season.
• Researching, recommending, and implementing audience engagement and development strategies.
• Updating and developing internal marketing resources (contact lists,press kits, distribution lists, etc.)
• Updating and maintaining website, and assisting with support of new website creation as requested by Website Manager
• Creating content for e-newsletters, website updates, blog posts, etc.
• Updating free listings
• Assisting in the creation of marketing and promotional materials
• Communicating with printing companies to obtain competitive quotes
• Helping to build and maintain relations with media partners
• Overseeing the distribution of promotional materials
• Assisting with creation and distribution of e-newsletters
• Other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

• Experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) and working with design software such as Canva
• Experience working within the arts an asset
• Experience working with Microsoft Office and Outlook an asset

To be eligible for this position, applicants MUST:

• Students hired by recipient organizations must meet the eligibility criteria of the program:
• All students must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six monthsof graduation and have reached the age of 15 upon commencement of employment.
• Students must be employed full time for a minimum employment contract length of 217.5 hours or 30days at 7.25 hours per day.
• Proof of student enrolment must be provided to the employer.
• Students must be residents of Ontario during the period of employment.
• Students must be eligible to work in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
• Students should be living in Ontario at the time they start work.

The intention of the program is to provide career-related experience to eligible students that are alsoeligible to work in Ontario.
