Election of PACT Board Committee Chairs
December 12, 2024
Every three years PACT membership elects the Committee Chair positions for its board of directors. This is your chance to take a turn at leadership and play a role in shaping the strategic work of our committees.
While we do accept nominations from the floor at the AGM, our practice has been to accept nominations ahead of time for the Governance & Nomination Committee to recommend a slate for election that takes into account the matrix of regional coverage, company category, equity and diversity to create a thoughtful balance of representation on the board.
It is PACT’s practice to issue a call for nominations for all positions, including for those with an incumbent. The following is a list of Board Committee Chair positions, including the current board members who have indicated they are willing to stand for re-election.
- Advocacy
- Health & Safety – Pragna Desai (Shaw Festival, incumbent)
- Labour Relations – Lisa Li (Tarragon Theatre, incumbent)
- International Relations – Kevin Matthew Wong (Why Not Theatre, incumbent)
- Human Resources – Danny Everson (Mermaid Theatre, incumbent)
- Membership & Engagement – Pat Rundell (Kaleidoscope, incumbent)
- Regions Director – Marnie Hamagami (Theatre Northwest, incumbent)
- Caucus Director – Alex Currie (Theatre Calgary, incumbent)
- Environmental Stewardship – Laura Caswell (Stephenville Theatre Festival, incumbent)
Yes, you can self nominate! You can also encourage colleagues you believe are great for the role to apply. Just ensure every nomination starts with consent from the nominee.
Elections will take place at the AGM in person in Halifax on May 23, 2025. Details on registration and voting will be shared in the months to come.
Requirements
All levels of experience with PACT and not-for-profit boards will be considered, the primary prerequisite being a desire to engage. Please note that only individuals who are a part of a PACT member company or organization are eligible for nomination. Directors are reimbursed for travel, accommodation and per diems for board meetings, with the exception of the AGM.
Process
If you would like to propose a person for any of these positions, please notify them first. If they decline initially, remind them they have until the submission deadline to reconsider or let us know if they may be interested in the future. Additionally, nominations from the floor will be accepted during the AGM.
