ABOUT CONNECTED CURRENTS:
Between January and May 2025, PACT will host four Connected Currents gatherings centered around a series of guest speakers. Each gathering will offer emerging and mid-career IBPOC arts administrators food for thought on current hot topics in the theatre sector, as well as opportunities to foster national connections.

CONNECTED CURRENTS: HOW IT STARTED [Session 1]
The first session Connected Currents: How It Started will take place Monday, January 13, 2025, from 3 – 5 pm ET and will feature guest speaker Kevin Ormsby, who will speak about the history of non-profit arts institutions in Canada, followed by a Q & A. The initiative will also introduce a pen pal program for administrators who are interested in connecting and collaborating across geographic distance.
In attendance at each session will be an active listener, as additional outside support and to help bring the session to a close on a constructive note as needed.
ABOUT KEVIN ORMSBY
Kevin Ormsby is Co- Director / Curator of Programming and Public Engagement at Cultural Pluralism in the Arts Movement Ontario (CPAMO) where he delivers Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) facilitation and training while advocating nationally in the Arts sector. Clients have included the National Ballet of Canada, Canada’s National Ballet School, and Luminato Festival, Dusk Dances, Sampradaya Dance Creations and others.
Dancer, Choreographer, Artistic Director of KasheDance, he centers culturally responsive art, space / place making and communities in his work. He is the Theatre Centre’s Patrick Connor Award recipient (2023), Nominee (2023) and finalist (2021) for the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize and recipient of Canada Council for the Arts’ Victor Martyn Lynch – Staunton Award (2014).
He has taught at Centennial College, UWI -Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, UWisconsin – Madison, Northwestern University, and the UTexas- Austin and Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts (Jamaica).
He’s on the Boards of Dance Collection Danse, Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts, and previously Canadian Dance Assembly, Prologue to the Performing Arts, and Nia Centre for the Arts, where he was Chair of Canada’s first professional multi-disciplinary centre for African Canadian art.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Any IBPOC administrator who identifies as emerging or mid-career is welcome to attend.
Registration is free.
