Job Description
Position: Boots & Shoes Coordinator (Seasonal Contract – February to June 2025)
Department: Wardrobe
Hourly Rate: $32.62/hr
Job Description/Duties
The Shaw Festival is seeking applications for seasonal Boots and Shoes Coordinator to work within our Wardrobe Department preparing Boots and Shoes for our 2025 season. This position will report to the Head of Wardrobe and Associate Head of Wardrobe and are part of the Wardrobe department team. Additional work may be available in October/November.
Qualifications/Required Skills
• Professional level sewing skills
• Knowledge of men’s and women’s period costume construction
• Demonstrated footwear experience as a boot and shoe builder or coordinator
• Responsible for the coordination of our season’s footwear
• Organize and fit footwear
• Assemble footwear from our costume warehouse and transport to the festival and return/refile unused footwear to our warehouse
• Ability to alter footwear, including painting or dying and applying galosh, dance rubber and decoration
• The incumbent will not be required to build footwear from scratch but may be asked to build gaiters or spats
• A valid and clean driver’s license is required
• An ability to lift 40lbs comfortably
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel
• Must execute duties in accordance with department policies and procedures
• Communicate and work cooperatively with the Wardrobe team and follow the deadlines set out by the Wardrobe Coordinator/ Head of Wardrobe
• Ability to work with industrial sewing machines and steam irons
• Must execute duties in a manner consistent with safe working practices and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Must execute duties in accordance with department policies and procedures
As part of the interview process candidates may be asked to come in for a sewing test to assess their skill level.
