Job Description
Under the supervision of the Technical Director, the Assistant Technical Director
while specializing in Props and Set Decoration, will help oversee the smooth
operation of technical aspects for all our rental events and summer productions
mounted or presented at our Port Dover location.
The Assistant Technical Director must possess the required technical and
supervisory skills and be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal
skills, have demonstrated problem solving and time management skills, and be
able to perform all the physical duties of the job.
This is a Full Time Salaried position located in Port Dover.
Main Job Duties
• Source, borrow, manufacture or purchase props and set decoration.
• Effectively communicate with the Set Designer and Stage Management
• Responsible for maintaining their budget and reporting any show-related
purchases.
• Assist rental guest load in, set up and tear down for each show.
• Assist Sound operators with set up and introduce them to our theatre
equipment and capabilities.
• Communicate with rentals prior to their scheduled shows, to handle their
technical needs.
• Prepare, hang, focus, and board programming for rentals and summer
shows.
• Oversee with the Technical Director and assist the Lighthouse Theatre
team with the transfer, set up, and tear down of sets on Lighthouse stages.
• Along with the Technical Director help manage any current crew or crew
brought in to help with technical needs at our Port Dover location.
• Help implement the production schedule
Help lead and supervise a small group of direct reports (currently 1 Full Time, 2-3 Casual)
Backup Show Operator for theatre productions.
•Will be required to travel and help with tech needs at theatre location in Port Colborne when required.
