Join Our Team as the Artistic Managing Director of the Norman & Annette Rothstein Theatre & Chutzpah! Festival
Are you a visionary leader with a passion for the performing arts? Do you thrive in a dynamic role that blends artistic curation, theatre management, and fundraising? The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (JCC) is seeking an Artistic Managing Director to lead the Norman & Annette Rothstein Theatre (NART) and the Chutzpah! Festival into its next exciting chapter.
About the RoleAs the Artistic Managing Director, you will oversee the artistic, financial, and operational direction of the NART and the annual Chutzpah! Festival, an internationally recognized performing arts festival featuring world-class music, dance, and theatre. You will be responsible for programming, fundraising, and managing all aspects of the theatre’s year-round operations, while curating an innovative and diverse festival lineup.

What You’ll DoArtistic Leadership
Curate a diverse, high-caliber lineup of artists for the annual Chutzpah! Festival.
Lead the strategic vision and programming for the festival and theatre, ensuring artistic excellence and community impact.
Cultivate relationships with local, national, and international artists, presenters, and arts organizations to bring unique and engaging performances to Vancouver.
Oversee all festival operations: planning, logistics, and artist relations including contracts, travel and hospitality.
Serve as the public face of the Chutzpah! Festival, engaging with media, audiences, funders, and stakeholders.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Norman & Annette Rothstein Theatre, ensuring a thriving and well-maintained performing arts space.
Manage 100+ annual theatre bookings, developing strategies to expand rental opportunities and enhance client relationships.
Supervise and support staff, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
Develop and execute marketing and promotional initiatives to increase theatre engagement.
Represent NART and Chutzpah! in provincial and national arts organizations, advocating for the performing arts sector.
Lead all fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor relations, and corporate sponsorships.
Secure funding from municipal, provincial, and federal sources to support the sustainability of the theatre and festival.
Develop and manage annual budgets, ensuring financial accountability and long-term growth.
Work closely with the VWSTS Board of Directors and JCC Executive Director to align programming with organizational goals.
Provide strategic insights and analysis for board decision-making.
Offer advisory support on the JCC redevelopment project, ensuring theatre needs are represented.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking an experienced, innovative, and strategic leader who is passionate about the performing arts and excited to take the NART and Chutzpah! to the next level.
The ideal candidate will have:
Five or more years of experience in a leadership role within the performing arts sector.
A proven track record of artistic programming, theatre management, and fundraising.
Strong relationship-building skills with artists, donors, funders, and community stakeholders.
Experience with grant writing, sponsorship development, and donor stewardship.
A deep understanding of the non-profit professional arts sector and its unique challenges.
Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
A passion for Jewish arts and culture (an asset but not required).
