There’s a clue about our name in our logo if you can read Hindi: lal beti - red daughter. Red symbolizes  rage, blood and love; these three elements fuel women - forgotten women, shunned girls, outsiders daring to question patriarchal dominance while subverting beliefs that set up women and girls as accessories, impediments, or glorified servants.

MISSION

Red Beti Theatre is the sole not-for-profit Indigenous, Black and People of Colour (IBPOC) Theatre company in Hamilton, Ontario. 

RBT commissions and presents live performances created and written by IBPOC Women in order to contribute bold and relevant artistic voices to the Canadian theatrical landscape.

VISION

Our vision is to develop and produce work reflecting the diversity of contemporary Canadian culture. We believe in theatre that considers difficult, international, and cultural issues, and by providing space through our creative endeavours, providing IBPOC artists and communities a safe space to convene, share stories, and be entertained.

Job Description

JOB/POSITION 

Producer for Devi Triptych 

Production name:

Devi Triptych (Staging workshop in collaboration with Brock University) and production 25/26 season.

Brick Lane Bargain is a physical, genderbending love story with a feminist lens through the eyes of Radha, depicting Krishna’s erotic love of women, especially Radha. 

Sita’s Revenge is a devised, feminist adaptation of Ramayana through Sita’s eyes. Sita continues to be the epitome of idealised womanhood: self-sacrificing and dutiful, we are subverting this image!

A Pot Made of Sand, a dark musical surrounding the myth of Renuka-Yellama worshipped by marginalised communities.

Additional information:

Red Beti Theatre is looking for producers with experience in contracts, marketing, etc for non-profits for its final development workshop as well as a full production in 2025/26. The Devi Triptych is a reclamation of Goddess (Devi) Culture brought to audiences in a suite of devised plays. Hybrid work model, mostly remote. Possible touring opportunities in 2025/26.
