Job Description

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Director of Programming, the Outreach Coordinator is responsible for connecting PuSh programming to specific audiences, with a focus on people who have traditionally faced barriers to attendance. This work will include community outreach initiatives, coordinating promotion and distribution initiatives, group ticket sales, and other related tasks as required.

The Coordinator provides professional support to the Communications department, the Collaborative Leadership Team, other Staff, and seasonal contractors, and acts as an advocate of the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival Society to arts professionals, various stakeholders, and the community at large.

 

Highlights of the Position:

  • Compensation: $7000 for no more than 280 hours

  • 15-35 hours per week, variable and flexible except during the Festival, Jan 19 - Feb 3, 2024.

  • Estimated Contract Hours: 280

  • Temporary contract October 2023 - February 2024

 

Attributes we seek:

Experience

  • Outreach experience, ideally in the live performing arts

  • or other equivalent experience working in community. 

Exceptional Candidates will have:

  • A history of connecting cultural or interest-based communities with transformative performing arts experiences

  • Experience developing and executing ancillary programming that deepens patrons' engagement with live arts. 

  • Deep community connections and understanding of the challenges of reaching underserved audiences. 

  • Experience with Theatre Manager database and ticketing system

  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite

  • Comfort with Mac computers

 

Responsibilities:

This seasonal contract position includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Research and maintain a list of targeted community groups, and carry out show-specific outreach to communities with a vested interest in a show’s theme(s).

  • Manage accessibility ticketing initiatives including: group sales, community access tickets (to community groups and service organizations), community giveaways, contests, and other promotional ticketing strategies.

  • Coordinate all aspects of group ticketing initiatives including creating sales plans and accompanying documentation, research and compilation of data on previous and potential groups, contact and follow up, management and booking of each sale.

  • Develop and implement policies on selling discounted tickets for community groups and coordinate the distribution of discounted tickets.

  • Develop and implement policies on complimentary tickets for community groups and coordinate the distribution of complimentary tickets. 

  • Liaise with the Marketing and Communications Manager to coordinate marketing and outreach efforts.

  • Attend staff and production meetings as scheduled by the Collaborative Leadership Team.

  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry of contacts and patron information in the database. 

  • Participate in Festival and other activities as necessary.

  • Other duties as necessary.

Please note that all PuSh Festival Staff and Contractors are expected to be available for work when the office is open through December & January.
