Job Description

Donor & Development Manager Position
GLA is looking to add a Donor & Development Manager to the team to build a robust annual fundraising program for the company. This position includes developing, implementing, tracking, and stewarding a fundraising program to attract recurring individual giving and corporate donations. This position reports to the Managing Director and interfaces regularly with the Managing Director, Artistic Director, and the Board of Directors who strive to be resources to the position and provide regular, hands-on support for fundraising efforts.

Pay, Hours, and Benefits
This is a part-time, 10-month contract, with flexible work hours through a hybrid of in-person work and work-from-home. The contract is for approximately 20 hours/week from January 1, 2023 - October 31, 2023. The pay for this position is $25/hour over the 10 month term (43 weeks), for a total contract of $21,500. In recognition that a comprehensive fundraising program takes time to get established, it is GLA’s desire that this position be in place over the long-term and therefore, pending funding, and upon mutual agreement, this contract may be extended.

Requirements:

The Donor & Development Manager will:

  • Plan, implement, and oversee fundraising initiatives with a focus on securing donations
    from individuals and corporations;
  • Identify and pursue new fundraising opportunities;
  • Effectively convey the organization’s mission, vision, and programs to potential donors;
  • Develop strategies to grow our fundraising program to help us meet our revenue goals,
    including overseeing specific campaigns for the organization;
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders in the philanthropic sector, and seek major gifts
    from foundations who share our goals;
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of stewardship and recognition programs to
    ensure donor retention and impact;
  • Manage GLA’s donor database software through CanadaHelps;
  • Collaborate with GLA Executive Staff and the Board Chair on items such as fundraising
    calls, preparing notes, signing fundraising appeals and thank you letters;
  • Track the progress of fundraising initiatives and report findings to GLA senior staff and
    the Board of Directors;
  • Assist in the development of social media and web assets, advertisements, newsletters,
    media releases, and other communications materials related to fundraising and donor
    development;
  • Other duties as required.

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills;
  • Highly motivated with a strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • A creative and strategic thinker;
  • Superior organizational skills;
  • Ability to multi-task with and meet tight deadlines;
  • Works well independently and as part of a team;
  • Min. 3 years of marketing and fundraising experience
  • Experience with donor management systems;
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, social media platforms, and graphic design software;
  • Experience with donor campaigns;
  • Certificate/diploma in Fundraising, relevant experience, or similar qualification;
  • Experience writing grants, media releases, and fundraising letters.

Additional Info:
GLA’s typical hours of business operation are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. This position includes occasional evenings or extended hours during scheduled events, such as public performances of theatrical productions and special events. Otherwise, hours are flexible, and this is a hybrid in-person / work-from-home contract.

COVID-19 info:
In-person work takes place at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts in downtown Kitchener which has a COVID-19 safety policy that includes mandatory wearing of well-fitted masks at all times. This policy is updated from time to time in response to suggestions from Public Health.
