This conversation is an open invitation to BIPOC artists and producers to discuss our hopes and dreams for the future and to speak openly about our experiences as First Nations artists and administrators.
Join four First Nations producers and artists from Turtle Island, Aotearoa, Australia and Samoa to discuss dreaming across continents. Miles away from one another, our communities are tied together by historical similarities as well as a deep respect for our cultural protocols. How do we make space to weave these protocols into our creative processes internationally? As artistic work in our territories continues to evolve and flourish more than ever, how do we balance the lack of resources immediately available to us with the urgency to share with one another? How can we demand funding bodies to acknowledge the ways in which we choose to work? These are big questions, and no doubt ones you yourself have asked before. This conversation is being held in hopes that participants will feel less alone in their dreaming process, and will serve as a way to expand the international network of Indigenous producers working within or without colonial systems of creative producing.
