A free-wheeling conversation about MEANINGFUL equity, diversity and inclusion objectives, and how resources like CultureBrew.Art (CBA) can help meet them.
The panel includes:
- Stephanie Wong (she/her): Born in Hong Kong, Stephanie Wong is a multidisciplinary director, producer, performer, designer, and creator based on the ancestral and unceded lands of the x?m?θkw?y??m, Skwxwú7mesh, and S?l?ílw?ta? peoples. A graduate of Studio 58's Acting Program, and the Associate Artistic Director of re:Naissance Opera, she honours the intersections of her professional and personal experience by amplifying stories of culture, connection, and coexistence.
- James MacDonald (he/him): Since 2016, James MacDonald has been the artistic director of Western Canada Theatre on traditional, unceded Secwepemc territory in Kamloops. He has worked in the theatre as a director, actor, educator, and administrator since 1989.
- Daviorr Snipes: the Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion for the Stratford Festival Theatre. He is originally from Atlanta, Georgia where he was the Director of EDI and student access programming for the Alliance Theatre.
- Chris (C.E.) Gatchalian: playwright, author, dramaturge and editor who divides his time between Tkaronto ("Toronto") and unceded Coast Salish Territories ("Vancouver"). He is the Community Engagement Producer for CultureBrew.Art (CBA).
The event is moderated by:
- Valerie Sing Turner: a multidisciplinary artist who performs, writes, directs, dramaturges, and produces. The founder/Co-Artistic Producer of Visceral Visions, a Vancouver-based company that develops and produces new work by BIPOC artists. Valerie is also founder and creative visionary of CultureBrew.Art.
