The department’s facilities are housed in the Asper Centre for Theatre and Film and include a 155 seat fully reconfigurable theatre, a wide range of teaching studios with sprung floors, full technical facilities to support our robust production and stage management streams, as well as up-to-date infrastructure and equipment for our highly popular filmmaking program. Our faculty complement consists of twelve full-time members augmented with a number of Contract Academic Staff selected from the industry. Our department’s main commitment is to practical theatre and film making within a liberal arts context. Both B.A. and B.A. (Hons) degrees are offered through a range of streams of specialization in theatre, and we are one of Canada’s largest undergraduate programs offering this range of study. Our graduates can be found working in every aspect of theatre and film in Canada and beyond.

Job Description
The Department of Theatre and Film at the University of Winnipeg (www.uwinnipeg.ca) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Movement for the Stage at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is designated for IBPOC and underrepresented theatre-makers, educators, and artists. Subject to budgetary approval, this appointment will be effective July 1, 2023 or January 1 2024. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Movement instructor who: is dedicated to inspiring student interest, with a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate instruction; has expertise in one or more recognized methodologies for actor movement training that can concretely develop a young actor’s somatic awareness, physical articulation, and skills related to the embodied aspects of acting on the contemporary stage; has a strong professional artistic profile; and is a collaborator with the ability to contribute to a rigorous and diverse department that is in a process of renewal, seeking to reflect and contribute to the development of an inclusive theatre industry.
