Company Overview

Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world’s foremost repertory theatre companies. It operates year round, presenting a season of about a dozen plays each year between the months of April and November, a rich stream of digital content and hundreds of Forum events, designed to deepen understanding of the plays. For every person a theatregoer sees on our stages, we have seven people working behind the scenes, some of the world’s most dedicated and experienced arts workers. At this time we are undergoing a culture shift to support anti-racism and anti-oppression and ensure a respectful, equitable and inclusive environment in which all staff, artists and audience members can feel a true sense of belonging.

Job Description

This position supports the Director’s Office team, which is responsible for administrative and logistical arrangements for the Festival’s season, including our annual repertory programming, artist training, new works development and other initiatives as required. This position will support operations throughout the department, with an expected focus on the Music and Laboratory/New Play Development teams.

Responsibilities:

•    Administer contracts and other paperwork for a variety of simultaneous projects
•    Track payments and expenses, and ensure fulfillment of other contractual commitments 
•    Arrange travel and appointments
•    Co-ordinate invitations and arrangements for special events, opening nights, etc.
•    Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the Festival 
•    General administrative duties, including data entry, proofing text, correspondence, filing, etc. 
•    Represent the Festival with a high standard of professionalism with both internal and external contacts
•    Fulfill all responsibilities with an ethic of care, respect, and generosity

Qualifications:

•    Exceptional communication skills, organization and attention to detail
•    Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
•    A high level of confidentiality
•    Ability to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities and timelines
•    Collaborative team player
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 
•    Experience in performing arts environments and/or an understanding of music would be an asset
•    Particular consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate a passion and track record for empathetic and inclusive practices and working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, identities, and abilities

This position is ideally suited to an emerging arts administrator or administrative professional.

This is a full-time contract position, which will begin as soon as possible, and will require the successful candidate to work primarily onsite at the Festival in Stratford, Ontario, with the option of occasional remote work. Work hours are regularly Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, though occasional evenings and weekends (subject to compensatory time off) may be required.


Job Type: One Year Contract, subject to extension for successful placement
