Company Overview
Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival (SOTS) has been producing the works of William Shakespeare in repertory on Treaty 6 territory on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River since 1985, attracting over 10,000 visitors provincially, nationally, and internationally annually to our summer festival. We strive to create a warm, relaxing, and inviting atmosphere for our patrons so that they can enjoy their theatrical experience.
As part of the year-round senior management team, the Marketing & Sales Manager plays a crucial role in promoting the festival to our audience as well as building meaningful and impactful relationships with sponsors and key stakeholders. Reporting jointly to the General Manager (financial) & Artistic Director (artistic & branding), this position is responsible for the overall branding of the festival and for meeting annual sponsorship and sales targets.
We are looking for an outgoing and fearless individual brimming with creativity and drive. The ideal candidate has superior oral and written communication skills, should love working and connecting with people, and will be adept at relationship building. They will enjoy a friendly, relaxed, and casual working environment where collaboration is key. Someone who can say “YES AND,” while managing multiple high-level portfolios.
Our staff wear many hats and must work collaboratively. The time requirements for the duties detailed below ebb and flow with the seasonality of our organization. This position will be responsible for overseeing a small team of seasonal student interns and subcontractors to complete the work listed below.
Job Description
Sponsorship:
· Create and implement an annual plan to meet sponsorship targets
· Write, arrange, and pitch all existing & prospective sponsorships
· Develop, cultivate, and improve sponsor relationships with the company
· Ensure all sponsor recognition promises are fulfilled
· Work alongside other staff to secure naming rights of festival site capital assets
Marketing & Box Office:
· Create and execute a marketing plan to ensure sales targets are met
· Create and manage the marketing department budgets
· Research and write grants to support the marketing budget
· Create and implement strategies to attract, maintain, and engage audience members
· Plan, manage, and implement social media content creation with support of student intern
· Arrange, facilitate, or carry out all website maintenance and graphic design needs for the organization with assistance of student intern and subcontractors as able
· Oversee festival box office platform and seasonal box office manager
· Monitor ticket sales and respond in real time to ensure annual targets are achieved
Publicity and Communications:
· Communicate with media, staff, and artists in a professional manner
· Represent the company by running media calls, pre-show chats, and giving live and pre-recorded interviews
· Maintain a strong knowledge of the CTA & ADC rules and guidelines around publicity to ensure compliance in all areas
· Ensure the consistency, clarity, and accuracy of all communications, expand the company’s public profile, and generate interest in company projects
· Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner
Other duties as required.
Qualifications/Experience
· 2 to 3 years of relevant experience showing progressive levels of responsibility
· Prior experience in creating strong and creative sponsorship pitches
· Prior experience running multimedia marketing campaigns
· Strong knowledge of various social media platforms & digital marketing
· Post-secondary training in a related field is considered an asset
· Prior experience managing student interns an asset
· Comprehensive knowledge of the Theatre and/or Arts industries an asset
Skills
· A good understanding of website, email marketing, and social media platform management
· Familiarity with Mailchimp, WordPress, Sumac, Office 365 including Word and Excel
· Financial literacy including budgeting and grant writing
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong aesthetic
· Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
· Detail orientated
· Creative problem solving with ability to manage multiple competing deadlines
· Comfort with public speaking considered an asset
· Able to work evenings/weekends as required by summer festival schedule
· A knowledge of graphic design and software such as Canva and Photoshop an asset
· Knowledge of the function of fundraising software is an asset

Compensation & Hours
· $22-$23/hr based on experience & education
· Permanent, year-round position seasonally fluctuating between approx. 20 to 30 hours per week.
