Job Description

• Role: Head of Scenic Painting
• Position Type: Full-time Seasonal (typically early fall to June)
• Location: Regina
• Department: Production
• Posting Open Until: Wednesday, August 28, 2024
• Ideal Start Date: Tuesday, October 15, 2024
• Qualifications:
  • Using their strong scenic painting skills and attention to detail, the successful candidatre must be able to accurate translate the design from drawings to full scale.  Aknowledge of basic skills in scenic carpentry and/or props would be an asset.  The successful candidate will be skilled, knowledgeable, flexible, keen to learn, and a team player.
• Duties:
  • Reporting to the Technical Director for all daily matters and the Director of Production for all human resources matters, this position works closely with the other members of the production and design teams to accurately achieve the visual aesthetics laid out by the designers.
  • The successful candidate should:
    • Have a thorough knowledge of paint techniques and products used in the world of theatre
    •  Be able to communicate effectively with designers to establish the designer’s desired aesthetic of the show being designed.
    •  Assist with set construction, props building and/or shopping as directed by the Technical Director
    •  Be responsible for the maintenance of the paint shop in a safe and efficient manner
    •  Be able to effectively communicate and correspond with Designers, Directors and Stage Managers
    • Have strong time management skills and be able to work towards a deadline
    •  Have the ability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and Stat holidays
    • Attend all staff and production meetings and be a member of the Health & Safety Committee if required
    • Adhere to all aspects of the Collective Agreement between Globe Theatre and I.A.T.S.E. Local 295.
    • Possess a Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
•  Compensation:
  • This position falls under the Collective Agreement between Globe Theatre and IATSE 295. Wage structures, overtime rates, minimum work week hours, and yearly wage increases, etc. are determined by the Collective Agreement.  The qualified candidate will be required to join IATSE 295 if they are not already a member.
  • Wage for the 2024/2025 Season: $29.60/hr 
  • Minimum hourly work week while engaged: 35 hrs per week
