Company Overview

As a professional adult theatre company, the Belfry is dedicated to producing contemporary plays, with an emphasis on Canadian work, and to promoting artistic, cultural, and educational events in the Greater Victoria Region.

The Belfry produces up to 12 plays per year: one or two summer productions, a four play Mainstage series, and SPARK, our mid-winter festival of innovative and alternative work from across Canada.

The Belfry’s mission is to produce theatre that generates ideas and dialogue, and that makes the audience see the world a little differently.

Job Description

Opening: April 25, 2024

Closing: May 19, 2024

Residency Dates: March 14 – May 19, 2024 

Qualifications: 

·      Must have strong time management, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

·      Proficient computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet research. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

Work in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Stage Manager and Director.

·      Prepare rehearsal studio, spiking scenic elements, providing props, and other production elements.

·      Familiarize with company emergency procedures and respectful workplace policy.

·      Support the rehearsal process.

·      Create show track of all Stage Management-related elements for the production from the rehearsal period through to performances.

·      Liaise with production and creative staff accordingly.

·      Attend production meetings.

·      Assist with pre and post-show duties.

·      Run performances in the backstage position.
