Company Overview
COMPANY OVERVIEW
The Toronto Star describes Outside the March as "one of the most interesting and successful theatre companies in our city." By expanding the canvas on which theatrical storytelling takes place, we welcome audiences who don’t normally find themselves at the theatre and bring underused spaces into the public eye. We have invited audiences to play with us in a Parkdale kindergarten classroom, venture to Roncesvalles on an EMS call, weather the apocalypse in an abandoned Leslieville movie theatre, unlock mysteries in a beloved Annex VHS rental store, and place a phone call to our mystery-solving service from anywhere in the world, amongst many other exciting immersive offerings.
Outside the March (OtM) creates unforgettable immersive encounters—redefining the experience of theatre for a new generation of audiences. Since 2009 we’ve welcomed our audiences to over 20 critically-celebrated, award-winning productions that seek to embody our values of Curiosity, Care, Thrills, Connection and Immersion. COMPANY CULTURE
Our values of Curiosity, Care, Thrills, Connection and Immersion are at the heart of our company culture. We enjoy working with each other. We strive for excellence in our work. And we lead with care, ensuring every one of our team members feels proud of their portfolio and connected to the art we make. We want our staff to feel propelled to bring their best selves to their work—and to be their best selves outside of work.
Upholding that culture means creating an environment where flexibility, communication and accountability are the norm. When we can’t accommodate requests, we aim to be clear and honest about why. Accommodations may include, but aren’t limited to: remote workflows, paid leave and unpaid leave. Many of our staff work flexible hours, and we currently work in a hybrid remote/in-person model to accommodate our staff's varied lives. Using our Code of Conduct as a framework, we strive to meet our staff’s needs with a generous, anti-racist, and anti-ableist lens, and we look to be “called in” when we can do better.

We’re seeking fundraising geeks, dorks, wonks, and nerds! Apply if you’re genuinely obsessed with discovering new revenue streams and cultivating new relationships, by enhancing development strategy with creative thinking. Experience with substantial fundraising campaigns is an asset and should be emphasized in your cover letter and/or resume.
A love or appreciation of immersive theatre is a definite benefit. But don’t know what immersive theatre is? No worries, an open heart and open mind are just as important.
OtM works both in person and remotely. Priority will be given to applicants based in the GTA.

STATEMENT OF INTENTION
As an organization that has historically benefited from systems of colonial power and privilege, OtM is working to recognize and rectify our role in systems of oppression with an inclusive, values-led vision. We are anti-racist and committed to ensuring that vision includes team members who are passionate about immersive performance and who self-identify as Indigenous, Black, and/or Persons of Colour, and/or who seek equity based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, class, cultural background, ability, and any other intersectional identities.
