Guild Festival Theatre is Scarborough’s only professional theatre company and has been presenting contemporary takes on classics at the iconic Greek Theatre in Guild Park & Gardens since 2011. Presenting plays, concerts, and special events throughout July and August, GFT is committed to expanding the conventional definition of theatre classics by highlighting stories and artists that reflect the diverse, multicultural community that we call home. GFT is proud to champion local arts and culture and has been honoured with numerous awards and commendations including “Best Live Theatre” (Scarborough Mirror), 2017 OAC Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Arts, the Urban Hero Award (Metroland Media), the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Award, the King George III Coronation medal, and 2 Dora Mavor Moore Awards.
In the summer of 2025 Guild Festival Theatre will return to Guild Park to animate the Greek Theatre with performances and events including: Family Fest, Heratio & The 39 Steps.

The Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for building relationships with community members and partner organizations, and coordinating volunteer activities. Key responsibilities include overseeing the Youth Engagement Scarborough (YES) program, managing program logistics, facilitating partnerships, and conducting outreach to engage diverse youth participants. The coordinator will recruit, train, and support volunteers, and serve as a liaison between participants, mentors, partner organizations and Guild Festival Theatre, ensuring smooth communication and resource coordination. Additionally, they will organize events, monitor project milestones, and promote community engagement.
About Youth Engagement Scarborough
Youth Engagement Scarborough (YES) empowers Scarborough youth between the ages of 15-30, through arts, civic engagement, and volunteerism, with a focus on sustainability, resilience, and inclusivity. Over the next two years, YES will support 100 youth-led arts projects that span live performance, writing, and digital arts. YES provides training, mentorship, and micro-grants to support project development while fostering skills like leadership and creativity. Showcases highlight youth work, promoting community awareness and dialogue. Special emphasis is placed on under-served and Indigenous youth, creating equitable opportunities. By connecting arts with civic discourse, YES fosters personal growth, community impact, and a platform for youth to address meaningful challenges creatively.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinating with, training & scheduling GFT volunteers & activities
- Facilitating partnerships between external artists, arts organizations, community programs & GFT
- Source and coordinate GFT participation in community events
- Reporting on program budgets and outcomes
- Assisting in the creation, distribution, and evaluation of YES project proposals
- Managing YES program participants including onboarding, program support, and professional development opportunities
- Planning and executing public showcases of YES youth projects
- Other duties as assigned and agreed upon
Skills & Qualifications
Requirements
- Graduated from a post secondary diploma/degree in Project Management, Arts Administration or related discipline, or comparable work experience
- Strong project management skills including coordinating with participants, meeting deadlines, managing budgets, planning events, etc.
- Strong written & verbal communications skills
- Strong reading and comprehension skills
- Strong time management skills and an ability to prioritize & balance many different tasks simultaneously
- Strong public speaking skills in in-person and online settings.
- Available for occasional evening and weekend work
Assets
- Knowledge of the performing, literary & digital arts sectors
- Experience working with youth and youth led projects
- Familiarity with Scarborough
- Knowledge of Google Workspace
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Attention to detail
