Title:                              Building and Technology Manager

Organization:               Globe Theatre Society

Reports to:                   Executive Director

 

Purpose of Position:

 The Building and Technology Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the revitalized Globe Theatre building, ensuring it is maintained to the highest standards and that tenant needs are met efficiently. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a deep understanding of commercial property management.

The Building and Technology Manager reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing the environmental, security, mechanical, and networking / IT services of the building. They play a crucial role in making sure the facility: including its equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and IT infrastructure are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and well-kept condition; and are fit for meeting the standards required by a leading performing arts facility.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Members of other Globe Theatre departments
  • Liaising with Cornwall Centre, the City of Regina, the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District and other neighbours

Duties & Responsibilities:

  •  Oversee the environmental, mechanical, and networking / IT services of the building.
  • Oversite of the building security and management of safety risks,
  • Oversite of the commissioning of building equipment, systems and technology
  • Ensure the building, and its infrastructure, is maintained in a clean, sanitary, and highly efficient condition.
  • Ensure that the facility operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of members, volunteers and employees.
  • Manage the maintenance and coordination of the facility’s network systems, ensuring all building network systems are error free and working at peak efficiency.
  • Be the point person for outside IT security contractors and manage the upkeep of all internal computer systems. 
  • Develop and adhere to daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual checks to ensure the smooth operation of facility and its systems.
  • Develop a proactive preventative maintenance schedule and ensure preventative maintenance plans are carried out.
  • Conduct routine calibration and maintenance requirements on all building systems.
  • Reactively manage dysfunctional equipment and develop a remediation plan to address such equipment.
  • Perform root cause analysis when resolving problems.
  • Schedule both internal and external work in such a way as to maximize planned down time efficiency and reduce impact on daily facility operations.
  • Oversee the custodial team for the building and provide daily assessment of the work completed.
  • Manage building and IT budgets, ensuring availability of adequate resources and equipment. Provide budgetary forecasting and analysis for future considerations.
  • Manage the upkeep of external grounds and supervise the waste management program for the facility.
  • Assist in the implementation of the facilities Safety Management System.
  • Assist in the implementation of the facilities environmental monitoring system.
  • Assist in the execution of the security management strategy for the facility.
  • Participate in OH&S meetings, provide risks assessments, and facilitate remediations as they pertain to the department.

 Qualifications / Required Skills:

  • A collaborative and strategic thinking individual with experienced knowledge of Building Systems Management and IT Systems Management.
  • Excellent communication and demonstrated professional and courteous interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
  • Self-directed; able to identify and determine tasks with limited direction or information.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and efficient troubleshooting skills.
  • Possesses excellent time management and priority management skills; able to respond to high priority issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong communication, organizational and departmental management skills; ability to switch focus and juggle competing priorities and requests.
  • Positive attitude and comfortable working in dynamic and collaborative deadline-based environments.
  • Ability to work with diplomacy and tact with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Extensive computer, building technology, and IT understanding and skills, with the ability to support the needs of the Globe (e.g., MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, Internet, building systems, etc.)
  • Possess a Class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.

 

Qualifications that would be an asset:

  •  Five plus years of experience in Facilities and IT management roles.
  • Relevant post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field.
  • Training or certification in related building systems and network management.
  • A background in the building trades, with the ability to read and interpret building prints/drawings.
  • Experience with DANTE and building-wide video network systems.
  • Experience with ETC NET3 Networking systems.

 

Additional Information

Working Conditions: This role will be a full-time permanent salaried position, and will require some weekend and evening work. Work weeks are based off a 35-hour week, and with any overtime banked. Vacation time is accrued and can be taken throughout the year with prior approval.

Conditions may include; working alone, working at heights, lifting in excess of 50lb, use of stairs, driving of company vehicles (owned and rented), and working in low-light environments.


Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year based on experience, paid bi-weekly.

Relocation Assistance may be provided for a successful candidate that does not currently reside in Regina, SK.

Please note that parking is not provided for Globe Theatre employees. Bicycles can be brought into the building and secured, and multiple forms of public transit are easily accessible nearby.
