Job Description
ASSOCIATE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR- (BILINGUAL)

Status: Full-time Term (2 year term)
Hours: 40 hours a week (days, evenings, weekends and holidays)
Annual/hourly salary: $61,200 - $76,500 (position with benefits and pension plan)

Key activities:
As a member of the Production team, the Associate Technical Director (ATD)is responsible for assisting in the planning and co-ordination required to support the realization of productions, festivals and events held on the stages and in the public spaces of the NAC. The ATD will work under the direction of the Production Managers, supervised by the Production Department Technical Directors.
Specific duties include but are not limited to researching materials relevant to scenic or property construction, lighting, sound and projection, drafting technical and scenic construction drawings, as well as the supervision of unionized stage crews in conjunction with the Technical Directors. The Associate Technical Director will also be assigned shows of their own to manage from beginning to end.
Required qualifications:
• Graduate of post-secondary education specializing in the production of performing arts and/or three (3) years’ experience as a Technical Director or Assistant Technical Director in the performing arts;
• Familiarity with all aspects and genres of live performance
• Capacity to work effectively with artists, clients and colleagues with diverse experience and levels of skill;
• An ability to work unsupervised while maintaining goals and an attention to detail;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• Thorough knowledge of stage lighting, audio, video and special effects;
• Ability to create technical drawings used in the construction of scenery and props;
• Experience in estimating materials and labour for the construction of scenery, props and costumes;
• Experience in running theatrical productions
• Experience in leading and motivating crews in a unionized environment is an asset;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
• Practical knowledge of AutoCAD or Vectorworks
• Familiarity with of specialized theatrical software; Lightwright, Qlab, Isadora, etc.;
• Available to work evenings and weekends;
• Proof of a valid driver’s license (equivalent to an Ontario G class permit) and clean driver abstract;
• Possess Certification in Fall Arrest, Forklift Operation, Arial Platform Operation or ability to acquire within three months of hiring;
• Fluency in both official languages is required.
