Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world’s foremost repertory theatre companies. It operates year round, presenting a season of about a dozen plays each year between the months of April and November, a rich stream of digital content and hundreds of Forum events, designed to deepen understanding of the plays. Job Description

Associate Producer 

We are recruiting an exceptional arts manager to join the Directors’ Office, which is responsible for delivery of the Festival’s programming. Working closely with the producer and other senior staff, the position will be responsible for planning and implementation of creative elements of the Festival’s annual repertory season, filmed productions, artist training programs and other events, and will support operations throughout the department.

The breadth of responsibilities for the role may be flexible based on experience and interests, though a primary focus will be maintaining the Festival’s strong relationships with the artists who are the heart of the Festival through negotiation and administration of contracts through Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, ACTRA, the Toronto Musicians’ Association and the Playwrights’ Guild of Canada. Additionally, the position will play a meaningful role in the planning and execution of special events and other activities, and will be a hub for internal and external communication to successfully realize our work.

The position is ideally suited to mid-career producers / arts administrators.

Responsibilities:
•    Plan and manage events and activities to ensure completion on time and within budget;
•    Negotiate, draft and administer contracts and other documentation for a variety of simultaneous projects;
•    Act as a proactive and positive liaison with artists and their professional associations to ensure fulfillment of all obligations;
•    Liaise with multiple Festival departments, including Casting, Production, Marketing, Finance, Payroll, Archives, Advancement, etc.;
•    Prepare budgets and financial forecasts for all activities;
•    Review and proof materials to ensure accuracy and uphold contractual commitments;
•    Represent the Festival with a high standard of professionalism;
•    Fulfill all responsibilities with an ethic of care, respect, and generosity.

Qualifications:
•    Demonstrated experience in producing / management for the professional performing arts;
•    Expertise in the Canadian Theatre Agreement between PACT and Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, and working knowledge of other theatrical collective agreements such as the ACTRA Independent Production Agreement and Playwrights Guild of Canada standard clauses;
•    Exceptional organization, attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills;
•    A high level of confidentiality;
•    Ability to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities and timelines;
•    Collaborative team player;
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
•    Particular consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate a passion and track record for empathetic and inclusive practices and working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, identities, and abilities.

This is a full-time position, which is expected to begin on or about January 2, 2024, and will require the successful candidate to work primarily onsite at the Festival in Stratford, Ontario, with the option of occasional remote work. Work hours are regularly Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, though occasional evenings and weekends (subject to compensatory time off) will be required.
