With a mission to engage people in exceptional performing arts experiences that enrich the lives of St. Catharines and Niagara residents, the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre seeks an Executive Director.
The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre is a vital component in the renaissance of St. Catharines, serving as the catalyst in thoroughly modernizing the area and reinforcing the brilliance of Niagara Region’s diverse cultural cluster.
The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre is a 95,000 square foot academic and cultural complex comprised of four state-of-the-art performance venues: 775 seats – Partridge Hall , 300 seat -Recital Hall , 210 seat – Robertson Theatre and 187 seat – the Film House.
The state of the art Diamond Schmitt Architects designed facility is located in the heart of downtown St. Catharines, on the corner of Carlisle and St. Paul streets, adjacent to Brock University’s Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.The centre first opened in the fall of 2015 and since then, over 2500+ events have been held, and over 375,000+ patrons have been warmly welcomed and entertained.
The 7 days-a-week activity schedule for 48 weeks a year at the centre is passionately supported by over 20 full-time staff, over 70 part-time staff and hundreds of volunteers.
As a result of the partnership between the City of St Catharines and Brock University, the center is also open daily for Brock University students for their daytime lectures, music recitals and performances.
Together with the adjacent Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts (Brock University), the Centre forms part of an integrated cultural hub for music, dramatic and visual arts.
You are an articulate champion with a strong passion for arts, a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader with a thorough grounding in facilities management and arts programming.
You understand the power that artists possess in strengthening a community’s character, bringing people together physically and culturally, inspiring reflection and forming connections that transcend lifetimes.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, as an Executive Director you will develop and execute an effective economic operating model for the centre, which balances community-based arts groups, a professional series of programs, university/academic uses and other community events, conferences and galas.
You will be focussed on building relationships and engaging digital technologies, as you build your strategic plans.
You lead by example as you engage the administrative excellence of your team to deliver incredible experiences to all those who visit the center.
You have the ability to unify your entire team, harness their talents, encourage their creativity, and foster their professional growth.
