Meet Gina Puntil – PACT’s Caucus Advisory Director

Gina is a proud Filipino-Canadian living on Treaty 6 land of Amiskwaciy (Cree), colonially known as Edmonton, Alberta.  She has been involved with social active theatre in this province for the past 19+ years as Stage Manager, Production Manager, Director, Teacher, and Facilitator.  Currently she is the Artistic Director and Program Coordinator for the Alberta Workers’ Health Centre’s Work Plays Schools Program bringing the important message of Work Place Health and Safety and Workers’ Rights wrapped in a professionally sculpted artistic presentation to students and new workers.  Gina is a member of the artEquity 2016 cohorts. ‘artEquity provides tools, resources, and training to support the intersection of art and activism, and champions equity-based initiatives under the fundamental idea that ‘art cannot exist without community, and community cannot exist without justice.’  A current project close to her activist heart that she is involved with is I-WIN (Immigrant Women Integration Network) where immigrant women gain/practice the skills they need to achieve their goals and participate fully in Canadian economic, cultural and social life.  Gina is always trying to expand the relation space on the venn diagram of Community, Human Rights, Arts Practice, and Basic Life Needs.  With that in mind, she is very much looking forward to the responsibilities of being on the PACT board with the Caucus Advisory portfolio.  “Breathe with me, ‘inhale peace…exhale joy.’  Now, let’s get to work.”
