The Technical Director/Head Carpenter position is a blended position responsible for heading the season’s set construction and the supervision, co-ordination and execution of all production aspects including lights, sound, props and running crew. Proven on-the-job set construction skills and experience are essential for this position. The TD/Head Carpenter position will be responsible to the Artistic Director and will work closely with the theatre’s designers, stage management team and turnaround staff in the production of the theatre’s 4-show summer series.
Successful candidates will have trained at a technical theatre production institution AND/OR have comparable extensive technical professional theatre experience. It is essential that candidates have strong on-the-job stage carpentry skills and experience and be familiar with all power tools and set construction equipment. They will also have demonstrated proficiency with all theatre production aspects such as QLab, Autocad and an ETC Element or comparable lighting board. The candidate should also demonstrate a good work ethic, excellent and proven problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to manage time and schedules effectively in meeting deadlines and achieving goals. They should have proven leadership skills and work effectively with designers, directors, stage management and other production staff to successfully execute the technical demands of a fast-paced professional summer theatre.
