The Grand Theatre in London, Ontario is seeking submissions for an Assistant Director for Emma Donoghue’s Room in March/April 2020.

This person will be responsible for helping to support the director’s vision as needed in rehearsal. They will work closely with the core artistic team with a particular emphasis on supporting the child actors playing the role of JACK. For that reason, it is ideal that this person has experience or shows a strong interest in working with children. They must attend all rehearsals and previews.

The successful candidate will be an emerging or early career director looking to gain experience at a category A regional theatre.

Room, author Emma Donoghue’s adaptation of the book, was first staged in London, England in 2017 with music and lyrics by Cora Bissett and Kathryn Joseph, and directed by Cora Bissett. This Canadian premiere co-production between the Grand Theatre, Mirvish Productions, and Covent Garden Productions is directed by Cora Bissett, and features an all-Canadian cast.

Production Dates:

Rehearsals Begin (at the Grand): February 10, 2020
Previews (at the Grand): March 10, 2020

Opening (at the Grand): March 13, 2020

 

Load-in (at Mirvish): March 31, 2020

Previews (at Mirvish): April 4, 2020
