We are a place for all to gather, discuss, challenge, debate, celebrate, and be inspired and entertained by exceptional theatre experiences.  A not-for-profit regional theatre, the Grand produces and presents professional theatre on two stages: the Spriet Stage (~800 seats) and the Auburn Stage (~150 seats).

A typical season at the Grand runs from September to May including an annual fall High School Project production, which has a 23-year history as an integral part of our programming.

And we bring London to the world stage with a commitment to developing, producing, and premiering new and original stories through COMPASS, our new play development program. The Grand is currently undergoing a $9 million renovation of its public and artists’ spaces and is positioned to re-open post-pandemic stronger than ever with a completely renovated and modernized theatre.

Reporting to the Executive Director, and collaborating closely with the Artistic Director, the Director of Marketing and Digital Strategy is an integral part of the senior management team.  The Director, Marketing and Digital Strategy, is responsible for developing and executing a strategic, integrated marketing plan designed to promote the Grand Theatre with a goal of maximizing revenue and attendance while promoting the artistic vision of the Theatre.

In this position, you will oversee all marketing and sales campaigns, plan and optimize the digital marketing strategy, lead the production of all marketing communications materials and lead media and public relations activities. This will include working with cross-functional teams at the Grand (Development & Audience Relations, Production, etc.)

You are a strategic thinker and branding expert, with a strong understanding of marketing, digital marketing, sales, communications and creative services, with experience delivering revenue and lead generation campaigns.


  • Lead the strategic development and execution of an integrated marketing, communications and public relations plan that supports big-picture, integrated priorities;
  • Develop and manage a digital marketing strategy, including web, SEO/SEM, email, social media and display advertising; provide strategic insight and maintain our social media presence across all channels;
  • Collaborate closely with the Development and Audience Relations team on fundraising, sponsorship and community partnerships initiatives to ensure brand alignment and integration with Grand Theatre’s overall marketing strategy;
  • Build strong internal relationships to ensure that marketing strategies and tactics are appropriately aligned, and fully integrated;
  • Establish clear processes for efficient workflow, communications and structure to ensure marketing team engages effectively with all areas of the Grand;
  • Manage external agencies and vendors in the delivery of brand, fundraising, assets and campaigns;
  • Lead the planning, production and distribution of house programs, newsletters, publications and video/photography assets;
  • Support adherence to Grand’s brand identity across the organization ensuring messaging is consistent across platforms and marketing communications calendars are fully integrated;
  • Own and be accountable to all metrics and reporting for marketing activities;
  • Manage a team of full-time direct reports, including Communications Manager, Marketing Production Manager;
  • Develop and manage marketing budget.


  • 10 years’ experience in marketing, brand activation and digital strategy;
  • A university degree in a relevant field or a combination of education and experience;
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic marketing communications plans;
  • Experience working in a non-profit theatre environment, an asset;
  • Knowledge of agency processes, briefing and creative development;
  • Experience and confidence in working with executive leadership.


  • Excellent organizational, communications (verbal/written), interpersonal and creative problem solving skills;
  • Ability to work in a high pressure, deadline driven environment where juggling multiple projects, deadlines and last minute changes are common;
  • A creative self-starter who is comfortable taking initiative and champions progressive change;
  • Ability to think and plan within a strategic marketing framework;
  • Ability to effectively develop strong cross-functional partnerships, evidenced by a track record of teamwork and collegiality;
  • Empathetic to theatre and the arts sector – passion to make a difference;
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook);
  • Experience with email marketing and email automation, Google Analytics and SEO, social media management/marketing;
  • Experience managing and developing website content, an asset
  •  Flexible schedule required to attend events, performances as required.
