Reporting to the Administrative Director, the Director of Human Resources will provide overall human resources leadership and support to the Stratford Festival. Within this generalist role, the position implements and oversees policy development and HR practices to support a positive, professional, fair, and safe work environment for its 1000+ staff and contracted artists. The role will involve labour relations activities including negotiations, collective agreement administration, grievance, arbitration, and related matters for the Festival’s nine unions/associations. The Director will lead a team to ensure legislative compliance and best practices in the areas of employee relations, health & safety prevention and management, diversity and accessibility programs, payroll practices, compensation and benefits, employee recognition programs, housing for visiting artists, employee communications, and training and development programs.
Candidates are expected to have a CHRP or CHRL designation and/or post-secondary education in Human Resources along with 5 or more years of related experience. Experience in a unionized environment is expected. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a cultural or not-for-profit environment, or a strong interest in the performing arts. Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting will be expected, along with exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
