Associate Technical Director
Maternity Leave cover – temporary position
The Shaw Festival has an employment opportunity for a full time Associate Technical Director in the Studio Theatre, covering a maternity between February and September 2022. This is an exciting, fast-paced, dynamic team position. It demands commitment, flexibility, ingenuity, creativity and a good sense of humour.
Reports to the Production Director
Manages all technical aspects of production for the Studio Theatre
Co-ordinates information with the creative teams and department heads to ensure the highest production standards
Supervises the production operations of the facility
Provide effective leadership and support to both union (IATSE) and non-union staff.
Maintain and operates all theatre facilities and equipment in accordance with safety standards and legal regulations
Plays an active role on the Health and Safety Committee
Responsible for meeting technical deadlines and budget expectations while maintaining high production standards
Demonstrated operational knowledge of all theatre technical systems and protocols
Ability to motivate and provide direction and support to supervisors and crew
Good written and oral communication skills
Proven time management and organizational skills with attention to detail
The incumbent shall have demonstrated ability in the area of technical direction with at least five years experience
Proficiency with computer software programs; Auto CAD / Vectorworks and Microsoft Office
A post secondary education in a technical theatre program or the equivalent would be considered an asset
Salary range: $1,400 – $1,500 weekly
