Working with and in support of the Artistic Leadership and General Manager and in consultation with the leadership team, the Director of Marketing & Communications leads the organization’s patron development staff, strategies, initiatives in the areas of marketing, communications, sales, as well as community engagement and outreach.
They will ultimately be responsible for driving and achieving sales targets; shaping, steering, and consistently executing the organization’s overall brand strategy and key public messages; as well as creating campaigns and community engagement initiatives that both include and reflect the diverse population of Saskatoon and artists we represent.
Skills and Experience Required:
Highly motivated, organized, with a proven ability to both set, monitor, and achieve goals both for themselves and the teams they manage.
Demonstrated strengths at being an effective, inclusive, and engaging relationship builder, manager, and community influences with multiple stakeholders and teams.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; uses these strengths to build purposeful relationships and achieve actionable outcomes.
Experienced leader of audience development strategies, including achieving high sales targets and building loyalty-based programs such as subscription models.
Proven multitasker with strong ability to determine and balance priorities in order to balance urgent short-term needs with ongoing long term goals.
Past experience working in a non-profit model or organization with multiple stakeholders.
Has managed budgets of at least $500,000, achieved sales targets of at least $1M, and has experience making calculated spending decisions to maintain a low cost of customer acquisition.
Experience with email marketing and email automations, Google Analytics and SEO, and social media management/marketing.
In collaboration with the General Manager, develops marketing expense budgets and sets sales targets for subscription and single ticket campaigns
Creates and executes a seasonal marketing, communication, and outreach plan, including digital and social media strategies for Persephone Theatre’s programs and services.
Plans and oversees every aspect of marketing/ticket sales campaigns and strategies, including subscriptions (both renewal and acquisition), single ticket sales, special events, and outreach/community events and strategies.
Develops and maintains public relations activities including positive and effective relationships with media; creates and distributes media materials, develops media campaigns and establishes excellent media relations.
Oversees and coaches the Marketing Associate/Graphic Designer in the creative production, copy and distribution of all marketing pieces in both print and digital formats, including season brochure, season and production marketing materials, website content, and effective website purchase paths.
With the support of the Box Office Manager, monitors and manages patron data effectively to deepen audience engagement and increase sales.
Ensures effective and cohesive brand identity across all marketing campaigns.
Creates and compiles an effective audience survey program and reports back with participation analysis, customer survey data, and review and analysis of patron experiences.
Manages and supports the Community Outreach programming to assist them in creating an effective communication strategy and ensuring consistency in messaging to stakeholders.
Works collaboratively with the Development department to assist them in creating an effective communication strategy and ensuring consistency in messaging to stakeholders.
Prepares regular reports tracking outcomes of activities to-date, as well as plans for future activities and strategies, to be used by the General Manager and Artistic Director in their company reports to the board of directors and included in their applications for government funders.
