Reporting to the Co-ordinator, Theatre Marketing this position provides supervision to part-time and volunteer support staff and ensures quality marketing program delivery and excellent customer service to meet and support the goals and vision of the Rose Theatre.

Supervision of support staff (part-time and volunteers). Includes daily supervision regarding work duties, scheduling, adherence to City policies and procedures, i.e. Health and Safety and payroll documentation. Also recruits, trains and coaches these individuals. Provides performance evaluation feedback, including discipline. Evaluates staff training needs and arranges for training initiatives, particularly regarding qualifications and certifications.

Interacts with customers, to ensure program delivery is meeting customer expectations and service standards. Aids staff in problem solving and ensures the timely follow-up and completion of correct documentation regarding Accidents and Incidents, or customer concerns and requests. Meets with affiliated theatre groups, and sponsors to maintain excellent relationships and support for the City’s Rose Theatre.  Monitors and resolves some of the core customer service issues as they related to marketing, public relations and advertising.

Reporting. Provides data such as customer statistics on usage, attendance, revenue, and other important measures such as creating the monthly house programs and show playbills, as well as updating the Rose Theatre website.  Maintains the email marketing function for the Rose Theatre. Processes marketing invoices and tracking budget and expenditures and log in costs to use for artist settlements.  Maintains marketing settlement costs and purchase orders and archives. Provides input to budgeting process, including monthly forecasting and monitoring of revenues, expenditures and net. Reports on trends, emerging issues and potential areas of growth.  Assists in preparing related marketing reports such as season brochures.  Co-ordinates and helps distribute marketing reports.

Program excellence. Prepare or proof materials related to marketing of programs. Develops strategic marketing plans to increase subscriptions, single ticket sales and group sales. Ensure that programs offered are of excellent quality. Uses awareness of emerging marketing initiatives as they related to Theatre marketing and make recommendations for improvements and future programs.  Prepares regular evaluations of al marketing programs to ensure continuous improvement in all initiatives.  Develops advertising and press releases.



  • Post secondary education with an emphasis on related field (i.e. Marketing)
  • 2 plus year of related marketing experience
  • Supervisory or informal leadership, particularly of volunteers, an asset
  • Experience working in a Theatre or related facility would be an asset
  • Experience with e-mail marketing and public relations an asset
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint etc)
  • Exposure to budgeting and financial management
  • Customer service skills and experience
  • Work variable hours, including evening, weekends and holidays

** Starting salary for this position is $59,551.00.
