Position Summary:

Gateway Theatre is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of BARTENDER, working with the Audience Services team to provide patron service during shows and special events. This is a CASUAL position: hours will vary depending on the season and needs of each show. For the right person, this position has the potential to develop to include Front of House Manager duties.

As Bartender you will:

•Serve snacks and beverages to theatre patrons in a fun, fast-paced environment under the direction of the Front of House Manager.

•Set up for receptions and special events.

•Ensure proper accounting and controls of concession products; reconcile sales at the beginning and end of shifts.

•Uphold Gateway policies and procedures; including health & safety procedures and food & beverage policies.

•Represent Gateway in a professional, inclusive, and welcoming manner at all times.

Qualifications:

•Prior bartending or food service experience.

•Outstanding customer service and communication skills.

•Calm under pressure, with the ability to adapt to change on short notice.

•Friendly, flexible, and enthusiastic about sharing live performance.

•Bondable.

•Comfortable working alone and as part of a team.

•Able to follow verbal and written instruction, proactively seeking clarification when needed.

•Able to lift heavy supplies on occasion.

•Over 19 years of age with a valid “Serving It Right” certificate plus first aid training.

•Experience working with volunteers is an asset.

•Experience working in the arts and cultural sector or other non-profit environments is an asset.

•Experience working with Square POS is an asset.

•Fluent in English (Cantonese or Mandarin language skills are an asset but not required).
