Vancouver based Boca del Lupo currently seeks a full-time Program and Events Manager for Performance Works. This position has the chief administrative, operational and producing responsibilities at Performance Works which includes much of Boca del Lupo core programming.  This position is an excellent challenge for an experienced arts manager and leader strongly passionate about producing new work, promoting new voices and engaging with audiences in new ways.

Boca del Lupo is led by Artistic Director Sherry J. Yoon and Artistic Producer Jay Dodge. Our mission is to create and present extraordinary performances in unconventional spaces.  We believe in providing equal opportunities to a diversity of artists and individuals in both emerging and leadership positions. We are devoted to accessibility and we work to broaden the participation, perception and importance of contemporary performance within the multiplicity of Canadian cultures.

Originally a machine shop from the 1920’s, the Barbara Dalrymple-designed Performance Works opened on Granville Island in 1992 with a mandate to provide the arts community with a permanent rehearsal and performance venue. Owned by CMHC-Granville Island, Performance Works is stewarded by the Granville Island Theatre District and Boca del Lupo. This flexible and beautiful performance space includes a bar service area, a large outdoor patio, and outdoor performance space. Performance Works programming prioritizes contemporary performance, independent theatre, festivals, and workshops.

Reporting to the Artistic Producer, the Performance Works Program and Events Manager will hold the following areas of responsibility:

·   Programming and Producing: supporting the curatorial framework developed by Boca del Lupo and overseeing the activities related to programming at Performance Works, including festivals, partner productions, tour ins and rental clients.

·   Operations and Administration: leading the staff associated with the facility, marketing, development, and audience relations which include the day to day operations of the venue and the society.

·   Organizational Development: with the artistic director, artistic producer, board executive and project consultants, participate in creating and executing the management, operations and development plans for Performance Works.

Necessary professional skills:

Ability to deliver

Understanding the necessary steps and responsibilities required for production management and program stewardship from contracting and negotiating to supporting the development processes, marketing, audience development and soliciting financial support for projects and facilities.

Confidence in community, partnership and stakeholder development

Capacity and desire to work with the team to develop innovative new resources and ideas for community development, partnership building and the promotion of work to specific audiences.

Sensitivity and understanding

A sensitivity to the creative process from planning a season and developing new works through to how an organization aligns itself to and follows through on its core values.
