Why Does PACT Have an HR Specialist?
For you. Access to the support of a Human Resources Specialist is one of the services that we provide to our members, affiliates and colleagues.
Super. What Does that Mean?
It means that there is now someone you can call Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 5:30pm (EST) when you need advice on an issue, small or significant, that has to do with staff management, policy development, complying with federal and provincial legislation, health and safety issues, or – hey – dealing with the completely uncomplicated reporting tasks for the Canada Revenue Agency.
If I don’t know the answer then I’ll find it for you so that you can get back to doing the work that you love. Or the work that you don’t really love. #grants

Some of you have spoken with Alicia Cachia over the last year. She is the permanent HR Specialist at PACT and is on a leave of absence until 2020. The HR page on the PACT site is live as of March 11th. The content will grow over the next year as your questions come in so do not be shy about reaching out. Chances are that the question you are asking is shared by many other members across the country.
The next big event is a three-session HR Intensive starting on April 2nd. This is designed for theatre producers and arts administrators who have been thrown into the deep end of human resources administration for their company. Consider this series your dinghy. Topics to be covered will include staff planning and recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, investigations, terminations, and industry best practices, among others.
