Ontario Premier’s Arts Awards Recognizes The Theatre Centre and Young People’s Theatre
The Premier’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts celebrate the outstanding achievements of Ontario’s arts community and its contributions to a strong, vibrant culture sector. The Theatre Centre and Young People’s Theatre are finalists in the Arts Organization group.

What’s Happening in the Wider Community
- The Playwrights Guild of Canada has announced the short lists for this year’s Tom Hendry Awards. The winners will be revealed on October 29th.
- IATSE and the National Theatre School of Canada have joined together to help secure the presentation of the 2018 edition of the Ontario Drama Festival as well as the Atlantic and British Columbia Drama Festivals following the withdrawal of Sears Canada as the organizations’ common main sponsor.
- The Canada Council has announced the finalists for this year’s Governor General’s Literary Awards.
- Howlround has announced four upcoming convenings intended to address issues facing the theatre industry. The convenings will take place at Emerson College in Boston over the next two years.
- The deadline for the LMDA’s Elliot Hayes Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dramaturgy has been extended! The new deadline is October 27.
