What’s Happening in the Wider Community
- The 38th annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards were held in Toronto on Monday, June 26.
- The 2017 Jessie Richardson Awards were held in Vancouver on Monday, June 26.
- The 30th annual Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards were held in Edmonton on Monday, June 26.
- Arts manager, community activist and activator Jane Marsland was awarded the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts’ Silver Ticket Award for 2017.
- Rohit Chokhani has announced the launch of Project SAT (South Asian Theatre), a network that develops, produces, and showcases South Asian theatre projects in Canada.
- The Quebec Minister of Culture, Luc Fortin, has increased the budget for the Quebec Arts and Letters Council (CALQ) by $4 million, substantially less than the $40 million requested by the artists at a demonstration in April.
