Stratford Festival launches $100-million campaign for the new Tom Patterson Theatre
The Stratford Festival announces the launch of The Spirit of the Tent: A Campaign for the New Tom Patterson Theatre Centre. To mark the launch, Ophelia Lazaridis has announced a gift of $10 million.
London ON school boards pull funding to the Grand Theatre’s High School Project
Two school boards in London, Ont., have pulled their financial backing to the Grand Theatre’s High School Project. The project’s focus this year is on a play about a gay student’s fight to take his boyfriend to the prom. A fundraising campaign was been created to help the company recoup the lost funding which raised more than $38,000 in just over 12 hours.
What’s Happening at PACT
- On January 17, 2018, PACT and Canadian Actors’ Equity invited senior representatives of the Canadian live performing arts community to discuss an industry-wide response to all forms of harassment as the beginning of a national action plan.
What’s Happening in the Wider Community
- The Canada Council for the Arts has announced that their Annual Public Meeting will take place January 23rd at 4pm. The event will be livestreamed on the web.
- CINARS (Montreal QC) has announced a call for programming for their 2018 festival. The deadline to apply is February 9.
