Three Part HR Intensive

3 PART HR INTENSIVE

Theatre Managers are expected to be Human Resources Generalists. The management of staff, performance evaluations, tracking compensation and benefits, hiring and firing – it all falls to you.

PACT’s 3 PART HR Intensive webinars address the roles and responsibilities that are the domain of General Managers, Managing Directors, and Senior Administrators. Whether you are new to your role or just looking to address a gap in a specific area, these webinars will provide you with a clear understanding of the employee life cycle from start to finish.

Led by PACT’s HR Specialist, Tabitha Keast, these three one-hour sessions are an overview of human resource best practices with takeaway resources that you can put into your own management toolkit, as well as a chance to talk frankly with your peers about the challenges that you face each day and get valuable feedback about how to handle them.

 

Module 1 – Recruitment
April 2nd 1-2pm EST

When you articulate a goal for your company then you are in a position to create a strategic staffing plan. This is the HR magic moment. With a strategic staffing plan you can hire strategically AND ALL OF YOUR DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.

  1. Staff Planning:
    • Setting a recruitment agenda for the year
  2. Recruitment:
    • Effective job postings
    • Screening applicants (including pre-screen interviews)
    • Equitable hiring practices
  3. Interviews: Asking the Right Questions
    • Creating interview questions and a rating system
    • Hiring teams
    • Other means of assessment

  4. Reference Checks: Asking the Right Questions, round 2
    • Who can act as a referee?
    • Comparing employment verifications versus referrals versus recommendations

Module 2 – Keeping Your People Happy and Motivated
April 9th 1-2pm EST

Part of your job is to create an environment which allows your people to develop their skills while you all work to meet your company’s goals – and this starts from the moment your employee or contractor walks through the door. The process to motivate staff is ongoing and, yes, will require more than a couple of potluck lunches.

  1. Orientation:
    • Employee handbook

    • Required training
  2. Retention:
    • Succession Planning: Filling roles internally
    • Workplace training and professional development
    • Recognition
  3. Being competitive: Direct and indirect compensation
  4. Performance Management
    • Create an effective performance management program

    • Effective interviews and ongoing support

Module 3 – Keeping Your Feet Under You When Change is Afoot
April 16th 1-2pm EST
