The Arts Club Theatre Company, founded in 1964, is Canada’s largest not-for-profit year round theatre company. Led by Artistic Director Ashlie Corcoran and Executive Director Peter Cathie White, it offers professional theatre at three venues—the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage, Granville Island Stage, and Newmont Stage at the BMO Theatre Centre.

The Arts Club is situated on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.

Arts Club Theatre Company is looking for a passionate, hardworking team player to join the Artistic Department as an Artistic Coordinator.

Come join our fun, enthusiastic team of four, made up of Ashlie Corcoran (Artistic Director), Rachel Peake (Associate Artistic Director), Stephen Drover (New Works and Professional Engagement) and Bronwyn Carradine (Company Manager & Assistant to the Artistic Director.)  This position will report directly to Rachel Peake.

We’re looking for someone at the beginning of their arts admin career who loves theatre and is keen to learn. Prior arts admin experience is an asset, but not a requirement.

–          Help us in creating the documents and spreadsheets that make the plays, workshops, and special events happen!

–          Be part of the hands-on side of events, auditions, and the day-to-day operations of Team Artistic

–          Dive into new projects as they come up to respond to this ever-evolving world of theatre

Administrative support for Arts Club Theatre Company’s artistic activities including, but not limited to, mainstage productions, touring productions, audio plays, special events, workshops and readings:

–          Aiding Team Artistic in day-to-day operations, such as filing, scheduling, and updating information

–          Helping to prepare and prep Artist contracts (CTA, VMA, PGC)

–          Document creation & information sharing

–          Data entry and budget maintenance

–          Aiding with scheduling & communication surrounding auditions

–          Aiding with grant applications

–          Aiding with Covid protocols for artistic programming

–          Helping to schedule, plan and run artistic events & programs (ie, Artist Parties, Panels, Incubator Series, Write from the Wings, Free Space Program, etc)

–          Attending Arts Club opening nights and events

–          Other duties and responsibilities may be required

Relevant Skills:

–          Passion for theatre, eye for detail, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work under pressure, self-starter who is organized and thrives in a team environment.

–          Good with words, but also has some love for numbers.

–          Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook & Google Drive an asset.

–          Understanding of Canadian theatre unions & affiliations – CAEA, PACT, VMA, PGC is an asset, although this is also something you could learn at the Arts Club

Start date:  February 28, 2022

Salary: $42,700 per annum with extended health benefits (after 3 months), three weeks of vacation, ten personal days.

Employment Type: This is a permanent full-time position. 40 hours per week.

Work hours and location:  Flexible work hours outside of core hours (which are 10am-3pm, Monday-Friday). Some evenings/weekends required. Ability to work from home 16 hours a week, if conducive with work activities.
